• What a good Wireless Laser Mouse should look like?

    Wireless laser mouse is definitely not new to computer users, people like to use it because of better control and “free as wind” movement. I have my own experience of using different wireless mouse before and I found one thing really annoying me.

    As you all know wireless mouse needs battery to operate, have you got the experience while you are plug away at work to meet project or assignment deadline. Then suddenly you have a “dead mouse” on hand, no need to apply CPR immediately as it has been certified dead already. Sometimes you may be lucky when it was happened at work in your office; you still can get new batteries from your colleague to continue your work. However, I have a horrible experience to work on my assignment to meet next day’s deadline. My mouse refused to respond as I got flat battery. There in the midnight period, I searched my house but found no battery. I was totally out of luck but have to act immediately to go out to buy replacement. Fussing over such kind of things really made you fed up and I really don’t want to have such bad luck again.

    Bear this in my mind that I want to find a cleverer wireless mouse, and then I came across the Choiix Accu Mouse Wireless 2.4GHZ Laser Mouse (C-WM01-W2). Basically it has all features that a wireless mouse normally aimed at but one feature that make it superior. It has power saving modes for 6+ month battery life, besides it also has LED indicator indicates power low. Therefore you can definitely clear before it nearly come to dead end; the indicator will prompt you to act appropriately. So no more fuss over such a trifle thing again.

  • Tips to prevent or mitigate carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS)

      1 comment

    CTS is a painful progressive condition caused by compression of a key nerve in the wrist. It occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. Symptoms are not so obvious in the beginning, and it usually starts gradually with pain, weakness, or numbness in the hand and wrist, then radiating up the arm.

    If people just ignore these and keeps on performing repetitive wrist motion such as using the mouse. Then the symptoms will most likely deteriorate, people might feel stinging, and decreased grip strength may result in difficulty to form a fist, grasp small objects, or perform other manual tasks. Serious cases even report people have atrophied muscles. Prevention is better than cure, therefore below are some tips to help you:

    。        Choose an ergonomically designed mouse for example you can use Choiix Uni-retractable wire optical mouse together with wrist-rest mouse pad;

    。        Tidy up your work table to place the mouse and mouse pad properly with enough working space;

    。        Take break periodically to allow your wrist muscles to relax; and

    。        If possible, do stretching exercises every 45 minutes.

    Below are some exercises from American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons which intended to help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome. Remember you should do a quick five minute exercise warm-up before starting work which can help prevent work-related injuries.

    Extend and stretch both wrists and fingers acutely as if they are in a hand-stand position. Hold for a count of 5.
    Straighten both wrists and relax fingers.
    Make a tight fist with both hands.
    Then bend both wrists down while keeping the fist. Hold for a count of 5.
    Straighten both wrists and relax fingers, for a count of 5.
    The exercise should be repeated 10 times.
    Then let your arms hang loosely at the side and shake them for a few seconds.
